Vegetables

In this lesson, you will learn the names of vegetables that can be grown in the garden. 

Some sample sentences related to the vegetable vocabulary:

  1. In winter, we eat sour cabbage that we pickle in autumn.

  2. Rabbits like eating carrots.

  3. I grow cauliflower in my garden. 

  4. Turnip is used for producing sugar. 

  5. I like making salad with radishes and green lettuce, especially in summer. 

  6. Children in the U.S. like carving shapes into pumpkins for Halloween.

  7. I always make my summer salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, onion and bell pepper. 

  8. Olives are usually grown in Greece and Italy. They also produce olive oil, which is very delicious. 

  9. Traditional food in my country is cooked beans. I like eating it for lunch, especially during cold days in winter. 

  10. Green vegetables like broccoli, spinach and sprouts are very healthy.

  11. I sometimes make smoothie with carrots, beetroot and spinach.

  12. In summer, I sometimes fry zucchini and eggplant for breakfast. I put tomato sauce over them. 

  13. Garlic is much stronger than onion.

  14. I like eating sweet corn, both cooked and grilled. 

  15. We always go to McDonald’s on Saturday to eat hamburgers and fried potatoes, called French fries.

  16. Artichoke is very expensive in my country.

  17. I sometimes prepare stuffed mushrooms for dinner. Mushrooms are a good source of protein.

  18. People don’t grow acorn squash in my country.  

  19. Adding some dill into your chicken dish makes it even tastier.
